TBIRDS Return to Picnic 11/21

Seasonal residents in flight from snow, rain and frigid temperatures gather monthly for citywide get togethers with MVUU snowbirds from November to April. Fully immunized UUCT and MVUU seasonal members, visitors and friends will convene their first citywide gathering of the season Monday 11/21 at noon on the east side of Himmel Park across from 2nd St. Set your GPS for 1000 N. Treat Ave, a block south of East Speedway where you will find ample on street parking. Bring your own lunch and lawn chairs.

The TBIRD Who's Who Directory lists 22 UUCT members, 11 friends and 23 visitors from 20 states — Alabama to Wisconsin with arrival and departure dates, home and away addresses. If the TBIRD postings at https://groups.google.com/d/forum/tbirds-uuct leaves questions unanswered, contact This email address is being protected from spambots. The workday – really just morning – is set for 8-11 on Saturday November 5 on the church campus. Come and make friends with the cherry wood paneling in the sanctuary, or paint a door in Goddard. Some windows need washing, even a kid could help here. There are lots of sticks and branches that need picking up on the west end of the church property. You get to pick the job, inside or outside. We need YOU. Bring the family and everyone can make new friends with people, trees, and our buildings. Breakfast food and snacks provided. Always helpful to bring a rake and gloves. We have the rest.

Margot Garcia

Lets get together and talk about it!

Learn about the Seven Principles with us.

Learn about the Seven Principles starting here: https://theprinciples.today/

"My takeaway from yesterday's group was that we were left with more questions than answers. We talked about compassion and gave examples of individual acts of compassion. But we also talked about the fact that systems, such as the prison system, are largely devoid of compassion and justice. We pondered on the disconnect between individuals and groups or systems." Kate

The third principle of Unitarian Universalism is acceptance of one another, and encouragement

to spiritual growth in our congregations.

What does this principle mean to you? How do we encourage spiritual growth? Come join us on

the patio on November 20th at 9:00 for some thoughtful conversation…and a donut!

Book Club, November 10, 2022:

November 10, 2022 -  2nd Thursday UUCT Book Club

MOLOKA’I by Alan Brennert - 2003

A gritty story of love and survival in a Hawaiian leper colony: more a portrait of old Hawaii than a compelling narrative. The chronicle of leprosy-infected Rachel Kalama begins in 1891 in Honolulu and ends in the late 1960s on isolated Moloka’i, site of the Kalaupapa Leprosy settlement. As much a record of her life as of the changes in Hawaii itself over the years, screenwriter and fantasy author Brennert vividly and graphically details both the landscape and the disease as he tells Rachel’s story. -- Kirkus Reviews
