Report on Holland HVAC and remodel

As the first of June approaches we had hoped to have a new air conditioning system ready to operate. Instead, we have a broken system that is getting a new water pump this week and a replacement for the office cooling system that was stolen, right off the church grounds from behind a brick wall. Reality is not always what we had hoped for.

The reality is that the mechanical plans are nearly done and the bathroom design and electrical plans are about 2 weeks from done. Then we can move forward looking for a contractor to make a bid to do the construction. Please send the names of any contractors you like to me, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We have had an asbestos and lead survey done which is needed for the city permit to demolish the old system and begin the renovations.

The supply chain snafu and labor shortages will impact us also. The bad news is after we order the new HVAC system it will take 20 or more weeks for it to be delivered. That puts us into the fall for the renovations to actually take place. This is not what we had planned or hoped for. The process continues, but not at the pace we wanted.

Expenditures to date; $2,000 retainer and bill for $6,910 which includes funds for mechanical engineer, architectural drawings and coordination. Total is $8,910.

Book Club, June 9, 2022:

Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell, 2020

With her eighth novel, O'Farrell brilliantly turns to historical fiction to confront a parent's worst nightmare: the death of a child. Set in Stratford, England, in the late 16th century, Hamnet imagines the emotional, domestic, and artistic repercussions after the world's most famous (though never named) playwright and his wife lose their only son, 11-year-old Hamnet ... in 1596. Four years later, the boy's father transposes his grief into his masterpiece ... titled with a common variant of his son's name. --- NPR Book review
