May 18: Worship and Other Announcements

We welcome diversity. We commit to undo racism and all other oppressions in ourselves, our church,
and our community.

Worship and Other Announcements

A word of warning: The Holland Sanctuary does not have working air conditioning. The parts have been shipped, and when they arrive, the install will be scheduled ASAP. Also, the HVAC unit that cools Rev. Bethany, and Mary's office, was stolen Monday evening. So, things are a little warm around here, and office hours may be different. Please call the office ahead of time if you plan to come by: 520-748-1551 Questions? This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Here in the the desert, we are approaching foresummer, the driest, hottest part of our year. Our lives are pushed indoors, out of the heat. What can we learn from this time of year? How will we prepare for this time of estivation? When we slow down, what becomes more possible?

Book Club, June 9, 2022:
Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell, 2020
With her eighth novel, O'Farrell brilliantly turns to historical fiction to confront a parent's worst nightmare: the death of a child. Set in Stratford, England, in the late 16th century, Hamnet imagines the emotional, domestic, and artistic repercussions after the world's most famous (though never named) playwright and his wife lose their only son, 11-year-old Hamnet ... in 1596. Four years later, the boy's father transposes his grief into his masterpiece ... titled with a common variant of his son's name. --- NPR Book review

MORE Highlights of the TEXnewMEX TUUR October 8-16, 2022
We are still looking for travelers to join the TEXnewMEX TUUR? This is an important FUNdraiser for UUCT. How much is raised for the church depends on how many people actually go on the trip. Our last TUUR raised almost $8,000 with a full group. We need 8 more participants to have a full group of 24 travelers this time.
Registration closes June 1. Julia Mehrer will be at church this Sunday with more information about the trip. You may also contact Julia Mehrer at This email address is being protected from spambots. Social Justice

FAIR ELECTIONS INITIATIVE: A new citizen’s initiative is aimed at stopping these laws, but we must get enough signatures in just over three months. There will be someone on the patio after church each Sunday with this important petition as well as the other petitions aligned with our UU principals. Contact Margo Newhouse This email address is being protected from spambots. Grown Ups Games IRL (In Real Life)
May 21 | 4:00-6:00pm | UUCT at 4831 E. 22nd Ave
Who says that game play ends when you're an adult? Not us! This game day is geared to those ages 12+ who want to play a variety of table-top games. Bring your favorite and come teach it to us.
Kids younger than 12 are more than welcome to attend, but we don't have child care for this day, but we do have access to the playground.
We will stop for a break when we get peckish to order a pizza (vegetarian option available, but no gluten free). Bring a side to share!
Beginning of Summer Celebration
May 21 | 6:00-8:00pm | UUCT at 4831 E. 22nd Ave
Who is ready for summer? We are! Bring your picnic dinner and any games you want to play. When it gets dark, we'll light up the fire pit and toast some marshmallows! It might even get dark enough for a game of Glow Tag. Who knows what else we'll think to do!
Parenting of Preschoolers (POPS) –Grown Ups Meet Up
