We are the Baja 4!

Representing Unitarian Universalists across southeastern Arizona, we love beyond belief and find inspiration from a wide array of spiritual, religious, and secular sources. We come together as a Baja 4 because we know we are stronger together.

What is This Newsletter?

If you're receiving this email, at some point you signed up to receive updates from the Lifespan Faith Development Team. We are the team that plans many of the programs, events, and activities at our congregations --and now for the Baja 4! We are so excited to connect with you. Each of our weekly newsletters will have a slightly different focus; this one is for gown-ups (18+) and their families.

(PS. If you're new with us, Welcome! And, don't let the title "Lifespan Faith Development" scare you! It is a common UU way to refer to the programs, events, and activities that occur in UU contexts. We are here to support YOU on your "free and responsible search for truth and meaning" no matter your age or where your journey leads you.)

Things That Make You Go...

Life With Children

So many things can trigger our "guilt button" when we interact with the young people in our lives. This resource from Big Life Journal helped me with a different perspective on setting boundaries around the time I am able to spend in play with my kids.

If you have other tips or ideas, post them on our Facebook page or UU Quest Blog!

Personal Spiritual Practice

Spiritual Practices are, simply, intentionally participating in activities which bring our attention to our inner world, to our natural world, and/or to the great mystery some call Divine.

Below is a new one to try on your own or with others in your life!

Please get a small piece of food - a raisin, strawberry, chocolate or something else - and use it to do this mindful eating meditation led by Bob Stahl, co-author of A Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Workbook.  Feel free to adapt and/or experiment.

A nationwide attempt to censor discussions about race and gender in the classroom is underway – and the academic framework known as Critical Race Theory (CRT) is front-and-center in the assault.

But why has CRT – a 40-year-old theory taught in higher education – become such a focus of the fight? And what can be done to weaken the dangerous propaganda campaign against learning and talking about race and gender in schools?

Our At Liberty podcast invites you to go back-to-school this week as we unpack these questions and more with special guest, Kimberlé Crenshaw – pioneering CRT scholar and Distinguished Professor of Law at Columbia University and UCLA.

Blessings For Beginnings

As you carry the load in your backpack and the load on your heart,

May the chalice you've drawn remind you that

Your community and the Mysterious Universe is always with you.

As you move through your day,

As you learn and as you play,

In every fear and every celebration,

May you know that you are held in Love.

PS. Did I forget to mention our Parenting Club? It is a resource for Parents and Guardians and All People Who Are Doing The Work of Raising Children! Because raising children is amazing, magical, wonderful --and difficult, challenging, isolating, frustrating, we come together as caregivers for children to share this ride to see if we can make it a little smoother. Activities are online until it is safe to meet in person. Find us on Facebook or contact Jamili at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
