We are the Baja 4!

Representing Unitarian Universalists across southeastern Arizona, we love beyond belief and find inspiration from a wide array of spiritual, religious, and secular sources. We come together as a Baja 4 because we know we are stronger together.

What is This Newsletter?

If you're receiving this email, at some point you signed up to receive updates from the Lifespan Faith Development Team. We are the team that plans many of the programs, events, and activities at our congregations --and now for the Baja 4! We are so excited to connect with you. Each of our weekly newsletters will have a slightly different focus; this one is on our elementary school aged children: about 6-11 years old.

(PS. If you're new with us, Welcome! And, don't let the title "Lifespan Faith Development" scare you! It is a common UU way to refer to the programs, events, and activities that occur in UU contexts. We are here to support YOU on your "free and responsible search for truth and meaning" no matter your age, family status, and where your journey leads you.)

Take UUs with You!

#ChaliceChallenge Calling all artists, builders, and makers! Here's you invitation to show us your Chalice Spirit. Show us your homemade, special, or unique chalice. Take a photo, draw, sculpt, build, assemble --whatever! We want to see your chalice!

For extra school spirit, show us a photo of your chalice on your backpack, bag, binder, or folder. Having a chalice you can see throughout the day can be a great reminder of the community who loves and supports you no matter what!

Ten Tips for Helping Your Child Adjust to School

So she’s off to school every morning now, like a big kid. But instead of the exuberance you expected, you find many days – especially Monday -- starting with tears, or maybe a tummy-ache. Don’t worry, it’s not unusual for kids to need a little extra help adjusting to the start of school. What can you do?

Aha!Parenting is a great site for ideas for many ages and stages in our children's development.

10 Super Easy (and Healthy!) Lunch Box Ideas

This one's not specifically about faith development, but about a topic that I know *I* struggle with: lunch. During our stay at home time during the pandemic we got so bored with the same PB&J that we'd often forget to eat (until we were all hangry and then all bets were off!). Here are some ideas for lunch whether you're eating at home, at school, or on the road.

Free Meals for ALL Students

If you're schooling in person, or remotely through one of our Tucson area school districts, they all are offering free meals for all students this coming school year.

The United States Department of Agriculture has extended pandemic flexibilities providing free school meals to all students at all schools through the 2021-2022 school year.

No free/reduced meal application is necessary to receive free breakfast and lunch. Contact your school for details!

PS. Have you joined the Parenting Club group on Facebook? Everyone in the Baja 4 is welcome!

Blessings For Beginnings

As you carry the load in your backpack and the load on your heart,

May the chalice you've drawn remind you that

Your community and the Mysterious Universe is always with you.

As you move through your day,

As you learn and as you play,

In every fear and every celebration,

May you know that you are held in Love.
