Widening the Circle: 8th Principle Mini-Conference
January 23rd | 9 am – 12 pm | Zoom
This church year, your Board of Trustees has asked all UUCT members and friends to consider whether we might adopt the 8th Principle as a congregation at our Annual Meeting in May. The 8th Principle – which has been adopted by more than 30 Unitarian Universalist congregations – reads:
“We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”
To help members and friends learn about the 8th Principle, Rev. Bethany and Jamili will host a mini-conference on January 23rd open to all who are interested. This will be a chance to: learn about the 8th Principle, participate in workshops which will deepen our understanding of the 8th Principle, and commit to further learning in advance of Annual Meeting in May. We will meet on Zoom from 9 am – Noon on Saturday, January 23rd. Register by emailing Rev. Bethany atThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

January 14, 2021: “Spying on the South” by Tony Horwitz, copyright 2019.
“In Spying on the South, Horwitz may have found his true historical
alter-ego in Frederick Law Olmsted, the elite Northeastern adventurer
and prolific writer about the American South in the 1850s who later
became America’s great landscape artist and designer of parks all over
the United States.”
We meet online the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9:30am.

On 12/29 during our UUCT sign vigil, a constant stream of cars pulled up in the parking lot, and handed our volunteers huge quantities of hard boiled eggs! We counted 38 dozen!!! A fantastic amount during this holiday week! We also collected dog food, warm clothes, bath towels, shoes and boots, and two valuable gift cards!
These items were delivered to Casa Maria, where volunteers quickly and carefully took them from us. There was a long line of hungry, homeless, and low-income people waiting for hot soup and bags of food. Each bag contains two of our eggs, sandwiches, fruit, a drink and other snacks. Brian said all the eggs would be eaten that day!
THANK YOU SO MUCH to Judy Jessing, Aston Bloom, Margot Garcia, MaryHolly Allison, Gloria Augustine, Marjorie Stark, Gail Ringer, Alma Byrd, Julie Olson, Chuck Houy, Margo Newhouse, Diana Barber, Darlene Mathews, Steve Cooke, Susan Call, Celeste Rogers, Gloria McMillan, Jan Healey, Sue Watts, and Rex Graham.

The folder is available to everyone! You'll find activities that take 5 minutes and one that take 5 days, so you're in control of how much time you spend on RE.
