Participate in the Virtual Christmas Pageant
This year we can't hold our regular Christmas Pageant chaos night, but we don't want to miss all the fun! The pageant will be prerecorded, we'll all be able to live stream it on Christmas Eve and watch together.
BUT! You can still participate! There are three ways:
1. Record a line to be included in the Multitude of Angels. In real life, we have a beautiful gaggle of sparkly folks as our angels. This year, you ALL get to be angels. Simply record the line below using a voice app or video app.
Peace on earth and goodwill to all!
Then, submit it to me by email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) or on this google drive:https://tinyurl.com/y3qkt75u**We will NOT see any faces for this video, and it will be posted to YouTube on the UUCT public channel. We are only playing their voices because our actors are...
2. Bring your stuffies to be our actors!Yes, you read that right. Our stuffie friends are going to be our actors. We are using a kind of storytelling that we have done before in Baja 4 worship. The basic concept is that we record our voices and then put images “over” them so we hear our voices and see the photos. An example is Warrior Goddess:https://youtu.be/V2_nsvrRXFY
If you want your stuffie friend to star in the show, drop them off at UUCT onSaturday, Dec. 5 between 9am and 3pm. We want to be sure we "check in" your stuffie so we're sure the right stuffie goes home with the right family! We will need your actor for a week to take their photo (a lot) so be sure not to bring us a stuffie you can't sleep without. Then, you can pick them up on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9am to 3pm or by appointment.
3. Pick up your Christmas Eve candle and submit a picture of yourself holding it!UUCT has a candle and wax drip protector with your name on it! Drop by UUCT on Saturday, December 5th or 12th between 9am and 3pm to pick up your Christmas Eve candle (and a special holiday surprise!). Then, take a picture of yourself/your family holding your candle(s) and submit to Rev. Bethany before December 15th. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. How to Give to the Church
You are asked to use our credit card service (which can be reached by the link or the On-line Giving button on our website), the very easy to use Text-to-Give (1-833-361-5796),or checkssent to the office. The on-line giving gives you the option to identify the contribution and use the memo line for checks. A tutorial video on Text-to-Give is here. After setting up an initial “profile” these options are easy to use for subsequent donations.
Amazon Smile:Did you know that if you buy anything from Amazon, you may designate that a small portion of your purchase amount can go to the church through the Amazon Smile Foundation? It is easy to do, just select the church as your charity of choice. We received $61.80 from Amazon Smile for purchases made July 1-Sept 30 of this year!
Year End Pledge Request:
Pledges have been down slightly the last two months. Please consider sending in your pledge by December 31 to receive credit for tax purposes.
Thank you,
The Finance Committee

Listening Class
Does it ever feel like everyone is shouting to be heard and no one really feels understood?
Listening is an important part of personal health, relationships, and community - but it’s a skill many people never study or develop! Hearing each other can be even harder in this political climate and during the holiday season.
Beyond the current challenges, listening is a particularly important skill for UUs because when we covenant together we aspire to come from a place of respect and understanding. Do you think practicing the skill of listening could help you? Join Rev Samantha and Ministerial Intern Rylee for a deep dive introduction to listening skills.
This class is open to all Baja 4 congregations.

Angel Heart Pajama Project distributes new pajamas and books to share love and caring to children in foster care, shelters or who are homeless. Often children are removed from the home and have no possessions so receiving a pair of new pajamas and a new book is like a warm hug. Social Justice is supporting this organization with a one-time new pajama drive as the number of needy children has increased greatly. Drop off new pajamas for children ages 2-12 at UUCT on Tuesdays 8-8:45AM, or during Poinsettia pickup on Dec 4 & 5th 10-11:00AM Thank you for supporting our Tucson children in their time of need. Hello friends,
What a year it has been!
Thinking back to our 2019 annual meeting at Issues + Action Day, there is no way we could've predicted what 2020 had in store. And yet... here we are. As we come to the close of this year, I want to pause enough to reflect on our shared work.
We didn't just survive this year. In spite of it all... UUJAZ thrived. When the pandemic, and politics, and racial justice called on us, we answered.Watch our 2020 recap video, recorded from our Annual Meeting to celebrate with us ALL that we did, together.
Throughout December I'll be emailing you some reflections on our shared work, and what we have in store for 2020.
If you are inspired to do so, we are also asking for you to become a monthly sustaining donor. Our goal is to raise $24,000 by the end of the year, which is also the equivalent to $2000 in monthly sustainers. We've had 46 monthly donors make this commitment so far... will you join them?

Join the Baja 4 families in POPs, a video-based, at-home curriculum grounded in Unitarian Universalism and designed for parents and caregivers of children ages 2-5. By engaging with POP videos, parents and caregivers will come to understand their child's spiritual development, to build rituals that support this development, and to see themselves as spiritual teachers.
Each month,
  • On your own, watch three short videos on the theme of the month.
  • With our POPS adults, meet once a month to check in and share.
  • With our children, join other kids for story and crafts time!
All activities are optional and free for Baja 4 families!

RE at Home Resources
Are you interested in "doing church" at home? I am collecting resources for at home religious education both on the Parenting Club facebook page and in a google drive. The folder is available to everyone! You'll find activities that take 5 minutes and one that take 5 days, so you're in control of how much time you spend on RE.
