Special Vespers Service: A Space to Grieve
Oct 29 | 6:30pm | zoom
There is so much we are grieving right now. 220,000+ Americans dead from coronavirus, the rising tide of white supremacy and fascism, the loss of physical connection with loved ones, the climate crisis, and more... UUCT's evening vespers on October 29th will be a space for us to grieve together, intentionally and in community. If you feel in need of a space like this, please join Rev. Bethany and others for vespers on October 29th at 6:30 pm.
Special Thanksgiving Fundraiser!
This drive-up gourmet dinner event will be noon to 1:30 pm on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26 in front of Goddard Hall. (Please stay in your vehicle while volunteers hand your dinners to you.)
The Fundraising Committee will make only 200 dinners, so order yours while availability lasts at
Your participation in this special holiday event will support UUCT financially, provide you with gourmet Thanksgiving dinners, and give you a way to donate dinners to staff and their immediate families. Rev. Bethany will lead a communal prayer of gratitude after the dinners are picked up.
The traditional turkey dinners with all the trimmings, even pie, are $25 each.
Full gourmet turkey dinners with generous portions will include side dishes of mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, a special green bean dish (not the soupy casserole), bread roll, cranberry sauce, spring salad-plus, and your choice of pumpkin or apple pie. Gluten-free and vegetarian versions are available.
To pay for your dinners, click here and fill in the amount using the Thanksgiving tab:credit card service

New Small Group Ministry at UUCT
Circles of Trust for Unitarian Universalists are coming to UUCT, beginning the week of October 19. These ongoing small groups will run through the end of May. Each Circle of 8 people will meet either once a month for 2 hours, or twice a month for 1½ hours, over Zoom. Modeled after Quaker teacher and writer Parker Palmer’s Circles of Trust, now in wide use all over the world, the groups will be facilitated by UUCT Affiliate Ministers and experienced lay leaders.
Our monthly hard boiled egg drive for feeding the hungry at Casa Maria is coming up! A volunteer will be at church next Tuesday, October 27th from 8am till 9am to receive your hard boiled eggs. Please hard boil your eggs the day before, write HB on each egg in pencil, and place them back in the cartons. Write HARD BOILED on a piece of tape and place that on the carton. DO NOT PEEL THE EGGS. The eggs will then be transported to Casa Maria, and will be eaten that same day!
We are also collecting good, gently used, clean clothing, suitable for the homeless. No ballgowns or high heels!

Social Justice Updates

Share the Plate
Our Share the Plate donation for the second half ofOctoberwill go toMass Liberation Arizona.
Our Project was launched in 2019 to bolster the growing movement to end mass incarceration and abolish the criminal legal system as we know it. Our vision is to build a bigger movement and to help change the political conditions necessary to make community liberation possible for BIPOC. We are working toward this by focusing on the grassroots organizing capacity of directly-impacted people and their loved ones, including people who are formerly incarcerated, have a felony conviction, have a sentence of probation or parole or whose lives have been directly affected by the criminal legal system in other ways. Our programs of support include skills training, coaching, political education, organizing & electoral strategy and a fellowship program for new and emerging directly-impacted organizers.
Cafe Justo Coffee
Sales - and delivery - of Café Justo coffee are continuing. This Social Justice Council (SJC) project benefits small-scale, shade-grown organic coffee growers in Chiapas, Mexico. Please contact Sue Watts for more information:This email address is being protected from spambots. The Social Action Committee is sponsoring vigils in front of our church each Tuesday morning from 8:00 to 9:00. We have dozens of signs covering current topics which align with UU Principles. We also encourage the sincerity and creativity of home-made signs. We are supporting causes UUs believe in and advertising the values of our congregation. Please don a mask and join us.
The Social Justice Council, chaired by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9am.  All are invited to participate.

Dear Friends,
We keep talking about November 3rd... but in Arizona ballots drop October 7th. That means, this is it. Our last chance to do whatever we are called to do for this election cycle, to UU the Vote.
The biggest thing you can do? Talk to people. Your friends and family, your knitting circle and mahjong group, your old high school friends and the neighbor you wave at when you get your mail. You can ask: "Do you have a plan for how to vote? Do you know where to drop it off, mail it, or vote in person? What are you most concerned about in this election?"
Studies show that these one-on-one conversations, termed relational organizing, are five times more effective than any other form of voter turnout.

RE at Home Resources
Are you interested in "doing church" at home? I am collecting resources for at home religious education both on the Parenting Club facebook page and in a google drive. The folder is available to everyone! You'll find activities that take 5 minutes and one that take 5 days, so you're in control of how much time you spend on RE.
