Sunday Morning: Hymns and Songs of Wholeness
Join us for the video premiere on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m.
It will be available thereafter on YouTube to watch when you can.
This week we reflect on the 8th Principle with worship leader, Ann Aust, Bob Gordon from UUCT, and Martha House from Borderlands UU.
“We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

How to Give to the Church:
You are asked to use our credit card service (which can be reached by the link or the On-line Giving button on our website), the very easy to use Text-to-Give (1-833-361-5796), or checks sent to the office. The on-line giving gives you the option to identify the contribution and use the memo line for checks. A tutorial video on Text-to-Give is here. After setting up an initial “profile” these options are easy to use for subsequent donations.

Join us after social hour for education, fellowship, and service opportunities with folks of all ages (yes, even YOUR age!) once per month. Workshops will be as diverse as we are: from Small Group Ministry to hospitality, from music to socializing, and from Get out the Vote events to trying new artistic techniques. Watch the Wednesday Newsletter for announcements.
**Seeking Workshop Leaders**
Right now I’m building a schedule of workshops and would love to include you in the line up. What do you have to share with the world? Bring me an idea and we’ll work together to develop it! No need to worry about technical support. I’ll have assistants available to manage the Zoom, so you can simply lead.

Campus Clean Up:
Homeless Camp Cleanup - Sat. Aug. 29 at 7 am
The details of the homeless camp cleanup have been finalized.  The City cleaned up 90% of the trash, now we need to finish the work. On Sat. Aug. 29, the landscape team will be hosting a cleanup from 7 am to 10 am. We will pickup the remaining debris along the west and north edges of our property. In addition we will trim and rake to improve the area.   Please join us.
Please wear hats and sunscreen. Bring your water bottle and a lawn chair.  Bring your work gloves, rakes, clippers, litter grabbers and small buckets (to hold the trash you collect) - anything that will help you with the cleanup.  UUCT will provide snacks and water to refill your bottles.  We will have a large city trash bin available to hold the trash we collect.
As always, we are looking for new members to join the landscape team to help us maintain the UUCT campus grounds.
If you are interested in either the homeless camp cleanup or joining the landscape team, please contact Carolyn Valdes at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or text her at 520-820-9173.

Social Justice Updates
Share the Plate
SHARE THE PLATE for the second half of August goes to CASA ALITAS.
Casa Alitas, (through Catholic Community services) is a program serving migrant families who have left their home countries to escape violence and poverty. Casa Alitas provides care, shelter and help to reunite them with family members in the U.S. The present pandemic has caused many problems for those incarcerated, and in limbo. 50% of them have become infected with the COVID19 virus. Casa Alitas continues to help many through quarantine once released from detention centers, and helps look for sponsors if they have no family here. There is a desperate need.

EGGSELLENT Volunteer Opportunity Kicks Off!
Our first hard boiled egg delivery for Casa Maria soup kitchen took place Tuesday August, 25. UUCT members brought their carefully boiled and chilled eggs to church early morning August 25th. Together, we collected nearly 29 dozen boiled eggs! They were transported to Casa Maria and received by a very grateful Brian Flagg. They will be distributed to the hungry and homeless the same day. Many thanks to all of the Eggbringers: Bob Gordon, Judy Jessing, Julie Olson, Margot Garcia, MaryHolly Allison, Marjorie Stark and Gail Ringer, Alma Byrd, Margi Magruder, Matt Conrad, Aston Bloom, Rex Graham, Sue Watts, and Mary Beth Ginter.
Our next EGGSELLENT Opportunity will be September 29th. Stay tuned for details. We have made a commitment to Casa Maria for a delivery of hard boiled eggs the last Tuesday of every month.
Beloved Conversations: Meditations on Race and Ethnicity, a curriculum for exploring the role of race/ethnicity in individual and congregational lives is going virtual as of September 1, 2020. It is intended for UUs seeking to embody racial justice as a spiritual practice.
Participants will work at their own level of experience in race-based caucuses, with a critical friend, in bi-weekly learning pods and monthly "meaning making sessions." The teaching and learning materials are based on the best practices of multicultural and arts-infused education. The program is positively reviewed by over 140 congregations who have participated to date.
Registration opens September 1. Beloved Conversations begins online in October.
We are close to having 20 members of UUCT participate in September, which will afford us a 20% discount per person on the tuition of $150. Scholarships are also available. Please ask if you have any questions.
