Share the Plate Updates
The Social Justice Council (SJC) at its May 5 meeting approved a 6-month schedule and process for UUCT’s Share the Plate donations.
May
June
The June Share the Plate recipient will be Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse. That recipient was approved by the SJC. Emerge! has seen a COVID-19-related surge in demand for its services. (Desert Voices, the previously approved June recipient, has ceased operations for the foreseeable future.)
July through December
In July 2020, UUCT will go from 1 Share the Plate per month to 2 per month, a change approved by the SJC and UUCT board of directors. However, the SJC approved a 6-month plan beginning in July and will adopt a new plan later for the second half of the fiscal year.
The 2 Share the Plate collections each of these 6 months will be given to 1 nonprofit recipient. This approach is intended to address heightened needs of Share the Plate recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vote Now
Each UUCT member can vote for up to 12 nonprofit nominees. Ballots with more than 12 checkboxes will be discarded. The election period runs from today through May 24.
