Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson

Jul 23: With Sadness

Dearest congregation,
It is with great sadness that I write to you to let you know that Rev. David Johnson died yesterday in a tragic car accident in New Hampshire. Rev. David's wife, Julie, is currently in critical care. My prayers will continue to be with Julie and Rev. David's family during this most difficult time.
For those of you who did not know him, Rev. David Johnson served the UU Church of Tucson from 1973 to 1988. He is beloved by many, many members and was bestowed the title of Minister Emeritus by the congregation in 2010. Rev. David served Unitarian Universalist congregations across the country for 50 years. He loved Tucson and the desert and continued to visit his family here regularly after finishing his ministry in Tucson.
As this was a tragic accident, a celebration of life service for Rev. David Johnson has not yet been planned. I will let you all know more details as they become available. We will definitely have a gathering of some sort at UUCT in the near future. Stay tuned for details.
If you would appreciate a space to talk about your grief over Rev. David's death, please email or call me (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 520.428.4921). You can also drop into the office anytime next Wednesday or Thursday between 10 Am and 4 PM, when I return to the office.
