What's Happening This Sunday?

Art & Spirit
Awareness Room | All Ages (under 6 with adult)
In this space we’ll tell another story that explores our theme for the day, offering additional avenues for deepening engagement, all while creating beautiful art work. This week we'll expand our discussion from last week about human rights as we read and create art about the roles children and youth have played in struggles for equality and justice.
C^3 -Chaos Controlled Club
Emerson | 12 – 19 years old
Designed for older youth who are ready to really dig deep into the themes and ideas. We continue our examination of our individual and collective faith(s) by asking "what is the Bible to me"?
Worship
Holland Hall | All Ages
Of course, remaining in the sanctuary for the Worship Service is an option for all children and youth. There are coloring materials in the back of the Sanctuary and if the youngsters get too squirrely, you're welcome to take them to the Foyer where there are some quiet toys and adults can still experience the service. This week Rev. Bethany tells us stories about Civil Rights leader, Ella Baker and learn about her style of bottom-up, leader-full movements. Where does power lie in leader-full movements? What can Ella Baker's leadership inspire us to lead and follow in new ways?
Nursery
King Room | designed for children up to age 10 and their families
We offer a caring, compassionate day-care environment grounded in loving kindness, universal acceptance, and compassion for children birth to 10 years old. The Nursery opens at 10am on Sunday morning and welcomes children throughout Sunday Services and afternoon programming. Yes, we’re watching children until 2pm and sometimes later!

What's Coming Up?
New Year, New Opportunities!
The MLK March
MONDAY | Jan. 20 | 8:00 am
The march will begin at Martin Luther King Way, near South Kino Parkway and East 36th Street at the UA's Tech Park. Participants will walk to Reid Park at East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road for a celebration at the park's outdoor performance center. The celebration is set to run from about 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. UUCT members are planning to gather at the start and march together --look for the UUCT banner. Attendees can drive to the start and park. Some members will have cars at the march end to ferry people back.

Evening Worship
Jan. 23 | 6-8pm | Holland Hall
"I brought myself to be with you, hoping that by inhaling the compassion, the courage, the hope found here, I can exhale the fear, the selfishness, the separateness I keep so close to my skin" (Kristen L. Harper).

Do you need to take a breather? To breathe deeply after the hustle and bustle of the end of the year? Maybe you are seeking a way to connect with others? Join us in January to reflect on the power of breath through meditation and song.

Each service begins at 5:30 p.m. with a Bring Your Own dinner to eat with friends. At 6 p.m., we will start a 45 minute service with a dessert potluck after. When the weather cooperates, we’ll drag out the fire pit and toast marshmallows!

Game Night and Farewell Potluck
Jan. 25| 5-8pm | Goddard
Please join the Parenting Club and Tucson UU Young Adults for an evening of friendly competition. We will breakout the table games to celebrate the Brown family who is moving to CA. Everyone is welcome! Bring a potluck item and a game to share.

**Child care is available from 5-7pm for a suggested donation of $5 per child, but no one turned away.**

How To "Do" Sunday Morning

Click for bigger image!

Not sure how to get involved? Here's the scoop:

  1. When you arrive at UUCT, sign up for your preferred class at the table outside Holland Hall.
  2. Enjoy Worship Service in Holland Hall (yes, even the youth)! We will dismiss everyone to class at about 10:45am, after the Message for All Ages.
  3. Leave for your class in the Children’s Wing during the Children’s Benediction. Not sure which direction to head? Just follow the crowd! We’ll all go out together and there will be an officious person with a clipboard to show you which room to go to.
  4. Learn, enjoy, share, participate!
  5. Repeat again next week.
