Desert Chorale is a group of some 35 people who enjoy singing and making music together.

  • They meet each Wednesday during weekly rehearsals from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • On two or three Sundays a month the choir sings in the service.
  • Desert Chorale rehearses and sings from the middle of August to the beginning of June each year.

The choir’s repertoire varies widely from month-to-month. For example, between August 2008 and January 2009, the choir has sung Nigerian folk songs, Mozart and Brahms, a jazz standard, traditional Christmas and Channakuh carols a Caribbean folk song, a gospel arrangement, and more. Largely, the style of music and the content of the songs fit the services in which we sing.

The ranks of Desert Chorale include people with no musical experience and an inability to read music, as well as people who have worked as professional musicians. They are welcoming and harmonious.

If you enjoy singing and being with congenial people, we invite you to join Desert Chorale.

Rehearsals begin again on Wednesday, August 14th, from 5:30-6:45 in the Sanctuary.

The Desert Chorale is comprised of a range of abilities and experience in singing. All are welcome.

We sing twice a month, with a few extra services sprinkled through the year, beginning in late August and singing through early June.

Singers and Friends of Singers can join us afterwards for dinner at a local restaurant. Details about dinner and choir and other questions can be directed to Brian at uuctmusic@gmail.com.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
