Summer Social Justice Chats with UUJAZ and Yes! Magazine
Thursdays, June 1 – August 24 | 11am-12pm | Zoom (Register)
With all that’s going on in social justice in Arizona,
- how do we push back against what’s happening in our state now,
- while staying inspired for the kind of world we are trying to create?
- Let’s build our imaginations,
- and practice trying on BIG radical ideas for change.
- Rather than dissecting the practicality of each article,
- our guiding questions will stretch our capacity to wonder and dream…
- because the first step to creating real change
- is the ability to imagine that things could be different than they are now.
- because the first step to creating real change
- our guiding questions will stretch our capacity to wonder and dream…
Join UUJAZ Co-Director: Partnerships and Programming, Janine Gelsinger …
- each week this summer for a deep and casual space.
- We will connect about an article each week from Yes! Magazine,
- Janine’s favorite source — for thought-provoking and imagination-filled articles on social change.
- We will ask ourselves how the reading relates to our UU values,
- and what takeaway we want to incorporate into our own lives.
This group is no-commitment, come as you can, drop-in drop-out style… it is summer after all!
Schedule:
- June 1st – “The Future of Work is No Work”
- What would we do if we didn’t have to labor for money?
- June 8 – “Murmurations: Collective Action to End Misogynoir”
- The intersection of race, gender, and Brittney Griner.
- June 15 – “California Runs the Numbers on Reparations” AND “On the Other Side of Reparations, a New World Awaits”
- with optional bonus reading: the 6-part series on reparations
- June 29 – “The Trans Joy Missing From Media Coverage and Legislation“
